Huawei Controversy Opens Field for 5G Challengers Washington has pushed allies to bar Huawei, a Chinese telecom giant, from building next-generation 5G mobile networks. With growing pressure to keep China's Huawei out of 5G network development, it could be time for firms like Japan's NEC and South Korea's Samsung to shine. Washington has pushed allies to bar Huawei, a Chinese telecom giant, from building next-generation 5G mobile networks, claiming its equipment can be used to spy for Beijing.  Huawei  denies the charges, but US pressure has prompted an about-turn in Britain. The government had already pledged to cut the firm out of the most sensitive "core" elements of 5G that access personal data and is now reportedly pushing for plans to end Huawei's involvement in Britain's 5G infrastructure by 2023. But excluding Huawei is not without challenges, because there are currently only two alternatives in Europe for 5G equipment such as antennas and relay ma...

Samsung Galaxy S5 to come with a “diamond metal surface”: Report

Guess we are not done with the debate of whether or not Samsung Galaxy S5 will sport a metal body or not. Just yesterday we had reported, that sources in Korea are hinting that it is unlikely for the next iteration of Samsung Galaxy to come with a metal body. Now IBTimes is quoting, a news report by ETNews in stating that the Korean smartphone maker Samsung's R&D department is working on a new material for the metal body of its upcoming smartphone, which could include the Galaxy S5. Unfortunately, the new "diamond metal surface treatment technology" will not embed diamonds into the device to make the smartphone sparkly, as using real diamonds can be costly. HTC One wants to tell its story(video)

Image
Samsung isn't the only one with tales to weave about its latest smartphone. HTC's released a video detailing the manufacturing process behind its metallic beauty, the One. It's a quick tale, under two minutes long, and was actually part of HTC's big reveal in London and New York a few months back, although it's recently been given a re-edit and uploaded. The company keeps the focus on hardware construction and it's taken diamond cutters, "zero-gap construction", electro-chemical etching and, well, plenty more engineering to get the job done. Industrial manufacturing and chamfered edge fans should make the leap beyond the break for the full video. VIA: Gizmodo  SOURCE: HTC America (YouTube)
